Zuzana Kostecká: Practical Course in Biochemistry II

The Practical Course in Biochemistry II is a continuation of the first part with the chapters concerning metabolism of amino acids, proteins, nucleic acids and minerals. The emphasis is paid on organ (functional) biochemistry with the special focus on the biochemistry of liver, kidneys, blood, bone and muscle. In the frame of functional biochemistry knowledge is applied on determination of tissue-specific enzymes (e.g. creatine kinase, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase). Topics are focused to determination of other indicators of damage to the organs or tissues including urea, creatinine, minerals, bilirubin etc.
