This the second edition book is written for veterinary medical students as a primer for their clinical years and should be of benefit beyond graduation. It is intended to enable the readers to understand how and why the symptoms and signs of various conditions appear. In approaching disease as disordered physiology, this text analyses the mechanism of production of the symptoms and signs of different disease syndromes. In this way, it recognizes the veterinary student´s and veterinary practitioner´s need to understand the mechanism underlying the disease and its clinical manifestation.

Essentials of Veterinary Pathological Physiology, Part II are divided into 5 chapters, developed chiefly by organ system. Each chapter provides a review of that aspect of normal physiology required for an understanding of the pathophysiology that follows. Disordered physiology, common clinical manifestation and mechanisms underlying consequent symptoms and signs represent a consistent presentation throughout all chapters.

Finally, because of their usefulness and popularity, flow charts were used. These not only crystallize the essence of pathogenesis for many students, but they also provide a convenient means of study and review.
