The textbook provides students with an overview of the European Union, its organization, primary and secondary EU law, as well. Characterized is the process of law making and explained are the differences between them. Described are sources of legal norms from the past to the present in the individual countries as well as the system of law in the world. Separate chapters constitute individual legislation governing animal protection, legislation on food law and regulations on measures in the case of disease outbreaks. Given are conventions regulating the protection of companion animals, protection of animals kept for farming purposes, the protection of animals during transport and the protection of experimental animals.
